Tools we recommend

The stuff we actually use and trust.

Free and paid tools we recommend to tattoo artists running their own marketing. No affiliate commissions, no kickbacks, just honest picks from what we use day-to-day.

Meta ads & analytics

Meta Business Suite

Free

Where every Meta ad campaign for tattoo work should live. Connects your Instagram and Facebook accounts, runs ads, manages messages.

Verdict: essential, can't run ads without it.

Meta Pixel

Free

Tracks who visits your website from your ads, lets you retarget them later. Worth installing even if you don't run ads yet.

Verdict: install once, benefit forever.

Booking & client management

Square Appointments

Free / paid tiers

Solid free tier. Online booking, calendar, deposits, reminders. Used by a lot of our solo artists.

Verdict: best free booking tool for solo artists.

Tattoo Inventory (or similar shop management apps)

Paid

For studios managing multiple artists, supplies, and consents. There are several in this space, all about the same.

Verdict: pick one and stick to it.

GoHighLevel (GHL)

Paid

An all-in-one CRM and marketing platform. Pipelines, lead tracking, automations, calendars, email and SMS. Powerful, but it's a lot of tool to set up from scratch if all you want is to manage tattoo bookings.

Verdict: serious power if you'll actually use it. Overkill if you won't.

InkClient

Paid

A CRM built specifically for tattoo artists, running on top of GoHighLevel with the setup work already done. Lead tracking, booking pipeline, follow-ups, deposits. Full disclosure: this one's ours. Tom builds it. We're telling you straight so you can weigh that for yourself.

Verdict: GHL's power without the setup headache. Ours, and we say so.

Content & creative

CapCut

Free

Phone-based video editor. The fastest way to cut process clips for Reels. Templates work for tattoo content.

Verdict: the standard for fast UGC video.

VSCO

Free / paid

For consistent photo editing. Pick 2 or 3 presets and use them on every healed shot.

Verdict: gives your IG a consistent visual feel.

Procreate

Paid (one-off)

Industry standard for digital flash, custom designs, and quick mockups. iPad only.

Verdict: every artist we work with uses it.

Scheduling & posting

Later

Free / paid tiers

Schedule Instagram posts in advance. Batch-create your week's content in 30 minutes.

Verdict: huge time-saver for artists posting consistently.

Analytics & website

Plausible Analytics

Paid (~$9/mo)

Privacy-friendly website analytics. No cookie banner needed. What we recommend over Google Analytics for small artist sites.

Verdict: simpler, friendlier, EU-compliant by default.

Squarespace

Paid

The easiest way to get a clean tattoo portfolio site live without touching code. Templates, hosting, custom domain, and a built-in booking option all in one. Not the cheapest, but the least hassle.

Verdict: simplest path to a portfolio site that looks the part.

Tax & business (NZ)

Hnry

Paid (1% of income)

For NZ artists, Hnry handles all your tax, GST, and ACC automatically. We use it for Bonehead.

Verdict: removes tax admin entirely if you're solo in NZ.
