For PMU artists & studios
PMU marketing. Meta ads for permanent makeup artists.
Brow, lip, scalp micropigmentation, areola restoration. We've adapted our tattoo playbook for PMU, same behaviour-based audience building, same style-matched creative, same monthly reports, calibrated for PMU's longer research-and-book journey. Campaign objective can be DMs, lead-form, or consultation requests, your call.

Why PMU is different
The booking journey is longer. We adjust.
PMU clients research more before they book. It's permanent, it's on their face, the stakes feel higher. So our PMU campaigns are built around trust signals (before/after, healed work, certifications) and longer nurture sequences before the DM ask.
-
Healed-work focus
Healed photos convert PMU bookings 3 to 4 times harder than fresh-out-of-the-chair shots. We lean into them.
-
Certification trust signals
Your training, your certifications, your years of experience surfaced in the ad copy, not buried in your bio.
-
Longer nurture, same pricing
PMU campaigns often run a touch-and-recall structure rather than direct-to-DM. Management starts at $949 NZD/month.
-
Audience-aware creative
Brow campaigns target different people than scalp micropigmentation. We don't run one-size-fits-all.
-
Sensitive-vertical Meta handling
PMU creative gets flagged by Meta sometimes (skin imagery in close-up). We've got the appeal process down.
-
Direct line to Tom
Same as our tattoo accounts. No juniors, no PMs.
What's included
Everything in the monthly fee.
- Campaign build and ongoing optimisation, tuned for a 4 to 12 week consideration window. PMU isn't impulse-driven. We pace the spend, the creative, and the retargeting so the campaign compounds across the full research-and-book journey.
- Audience testing and service-matched targeting. Brow campaigns target different people than scalp micropigmentation. We don't run one-size-fits-all.
- Creative testing across formats. Static, reel, carousel, with extra emphasis on healed-work creative and before/after sequencing.
- Simple creative edits using your existing posts. Healed-work edits, certification overlays, process clarifications. We do not build creatives from scratch. Your work is the selling.
- Conversion tracking and pixel setup where we control the landing page or the lead form. PMU often books better off long-form lead requests or consultation forms with a deposit step than off DM-first campaigns. Two options:
- A basic tracked landing page that delivers consultation requests straight to your inbox
- Instant leads in Meta's Lead Center, prefilled and screened for the right service
- Sensitive-vertical Meta handling. PMU creative gets flagged sometimes (skin imagery in close-up). We've got the appeal process down.
- Monthly performance report. Designed PDF, period-over-period analysis. What ran, what worked, what's next. Plain English.
- Direct line to Tom. Same person building tattoo campaigns is building PMU campaigns. No juniors, no PMs.
- Quarterly strategy review if you want one. Email, Zoom, phone, whatever works. Not a paid extra.
What happens after you apply
Two weeks of trial. No fee. Then decide.
- Week 1: Audit your account. Brief the campaign. Pull healed-work creative from your existing posts. Set the targeting calibrated for the longer PMU consideration window.
- Week 2: Launch. Spend stays low while we learn what's converting. We typically start with DM-led campaigns. They're the quickest, cheapest way to surface real interest, and they give the algorithm the fastest signal to optimise on. First profile visits and DMs land. Retargeting layer kicks in.
- Weeks 3 to 6: Audience compounds. PMU buyers research for 4 to 12 weeks before booking, so this is when the real signal arrives.
- Month 2 onwards: Monthly reports, monthly creative refresh. Once the audience has compounded, we can pivot to lead-form ads, consultation requests, email capture, or a mix. Whatever maps to how PMU enquiries actually convert in your studio. DMs aren't always the final goal; PMU often books better off long-form lead forms with a deposit step. We test what works for your style.
DM-led first because it's the fastest path to data. Lead-led or email-led second, once the audience has warmed up enough to spend that way without burning budget on cold traffic.

Why DMs convert better than booking links
PMU is a research-and-trust sale. DM conversations beat tap-and-book forms by a wide margin.

PMU questions
Common PMU questions.
How is PMU advertising different from tattoo advertising?
The work looks similar in Meta's eyes, but the buyer doesn't. Tattoo bookings can be impulse-driven (someone sees a flash piece and books). PMU is a slower, more researched decision. Buyers compare studios, read reviews, look at healed work, often follow you for weeks or months before reaching out. So the campaign structure leans heavier on healed-work creative, trust signals, retargeting layers, and longer nurture sequences. Same engine, different pacing.
What's the typical sales cycle for PMU?
Most PMU buyers research for 4 to 12 weeks before booking. Brows tend to convert faster (4 to 6 weeks). Lips and scalp micropigmentation sit longer (6 to 12 weeks). That's why we build campaigns around long-tail audience compounding, not single-shot direct response. The audience you build in month one is the audience that books in month three.
Do you handle brow, lip, and scalp / scalp micropigmentation separately?
Yes. Each service gets its own audience, its own creative angle, its own targeting. A brow client and a scalp micropigmentation client are different people with different motivations. Running one ad to both wastes spend. We split per service from the start.
Should we run DM campaigns or lead-form campaigns for PMU?
Honestly, lead forms often win for PMU once the audience has warmed up. PMU buyers want a consultation, a quote, a chance to ask specifics, not a casual DM. We typically start with DM-led campaigns because they give the algorithm the fastest signal, then pivot to lead-form or consultation-form ads once the audience is built. DMs are the gateway. Bookings come from how you handle the follow-up.
What does it cost?
$949 NZD/month for management, plus your ad spend (paid directly to Meta). Two-week trial waives the management fee. Running a multi-artist PMU studio? Get in touch and we'll work out per-artist pricing.

Honest check before you fill this in
- You have healed work in your Instagram (not just fresh-shot)
- You can commit at least $300 NZD/month on ad spend
- You're open to running for 3 months if it's working. PMU has a 4 to 12 week consideration window, so the audience needs that long to compound
If those don't sound right yet, save us both time and come back when they do.
